Americans Becoming Increasingly Resentful of Skewed Government Policies
Polls show that – despite President Obama’s rhetorical skills – Americans don’t like his core policies. This is not a partisan statement … Americans have come to despise both mainstream Democratic and mainstream Republican party policies.
Specifically, Americans:
- Believe by a 70-30% margin that big banks and corporations – rather than average Americans – have benefited most from Obama’s economic policies. 2 years ago, 74% thought that the bailouts helped Wall Street more than the people
- Want to break up the big banks
- Overwhelmingly want the government to get tougher on prosecuting Wall Street fraud
- Oppose war against Syria (and see this). This is not as new or surprising as many believe: Americans have been sick and tired of war in the Middle East for years
- Oppose arming the Syrian rebels
- Hate the broad program of spying currently being conducted by the NSA and other government agencies
- Think that the government has gone way too far in the name of terrorism, and want our liberties restored
- Don’t believe the NSA
- Consider NSA leaker Edward Snowden to be a hero
- Don’t trust Obama to actually do anything to rein in spying
- Want the director of intelligence – James Clapper – prosecuted for perjury
- Overwhelmingly support labeling genetically modified food
- Oppose Obamacare by a 45 percent to 23 percent margin. Liberals now realize that it’s turned into a feeding frenzy for big healthcare companies … which creates two classes of citizens
JUST one friendly financial tip here. DO NOT be spooked by people telling you the stock market is going to crash. There have been FEW TIMES in history where it as SAFE to enter the stock market as right now, and frankly it's a good way to beat inflation. However I would stay from Gold and Silver. These conservatives are only out to fleece you. You know that, don't you. No matter WHO tells you the market is going to crash either on July 1, 2014 or in 2016 DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. Give them the royal bird and grab your newspaper and get out the darts. My only caviat is to stay away from stocks that are single digit dollar prices. Actually I'd prefer it were a reasonably established stock. Buy it and hold it till you need it- - and then- if you ever need a loan you already have the cash reserve profit without touching your principle dollar investment.
THE MOST INTELLIGENT,
EDUCATED, AND INFORMED PEOPLE Are Almost Never Republican. Think that headline is a little too
strong? Well consider this: Only 6% of scientists are registered
republicans. Or this: Only 7% of journalists are registered
republicans. We can agree, can’t we, that becoming a scientist requires a
remarkable dedication to scholarship, education, and to the truth? We can
agree, can’t we, that nobody knows more about the working of our “democracy”
than journalists? So, why have well over 90% of those who have followed a
scientific or journalistic path rejected the Republican party? Could the
answer be more obvious? The Republican war on science fought on behalf of
the wealthiest and most powerful and the utter contempt which Congressional
Republicans hold for the democratic process have completely alienated our
brightest, most informed, and most curious. I copied that paragraph above from
the Monterey station. Even if you are a
conservative this should be a sobering reminder that if you are on the far
right you almost by inference, intellectually tainted and the “credibility odds’
are against you. But not only don’t these people qualify as “Conservatives”,
which to my understanding is “take forward steps cautiously”; these people don’t
even qualify as “reactionaries” since there is NO period within the memory of
anyone still alive, at least, in which these people on the “right’ would feel
comfortable today. Most certainly they
would not feel the least bit comfortable in late spring of 1964 when the Civil
Rights bill was on the verge of becoming law, or when the test ban treaty with
the Soviet Union has just been ratified.
Indeed their reputation that doomed them in the 1964 fall campaign was
that they were “trigger happy”. The
only place where you’ll find a real journalist today is in the internet liberal
press. Clearly the others are just empty
heads before the camera reading a teleprompter with a text scripted by Charles
and David Koch. There is a poll out that
says people are far more apathetic about the upcoming off-year election than
they were in 2010. For a progressive
this is about the most disturbing news you could receive. That’s because the Republican right is staking
their reputations on a light voter turn-out this fall. That’s the only way they can win. I haven’t sounded like a Malcolm X saying “The
chickens have come home to roost” as far as this theory I have about “The
children of the Jesus generation”. I’m
speaking of the ones who were the early movers and shakers in the Jesus
movement and among the early icons and teachers. In general- - a lot of these movers and
shakers were just a few years older than I was - - am. And you’d see all these new babies springing
up- fearing not they would grow up and vote Conservative. These children were indoctrinated from the cradle to basically "fear anything or anyone that doesn't see things exactly the way Mommy and Daddy see things".
Of course the poll numbers on the supporting of Syrian rebels are bogus, because if you look at the date the survey was taken it was nearly a year ago on "Wednesday June 12th" before we found out about the toxic mass weapons and before Obama drew his disappearing red line in the sand. I don't think a responsible person can stand by and think nothing of 150,000 civilians being killed by a power hungry despotic ruler like Al Assad. Also I don't regard Edward Snowden as "a hero". The analogy here is that evidence is uncovered that is instrumental in convicting a person for a serious crime. My doctrine has always been "the evidence speaks for itself' and "never deny Truth". However you should most certainly go after the cop of department that illegally ceased the evidence. So it is with Snowden. I still suspect there is some shady "deal" with Putin who is using him - or wants to- use Edward Snowden as a propaganda tool. I also agree with Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh that it's unconscionable that any woman would be barred from making a College comencement address because "she planned to say something anti Moslem". Indeed, if women's group ARE systematically ignoring this issue of broad scale abuse and denial of women's rights, they need to wake up and smell the coffee. I believe it's still the job of any nation that his risen to primacy of leadership in the world as the United States has, to set the right moral tone.
They have also taken a poll recently which shows that by in large, most people are in favor of the progressive agenda rather than the Tea Party agenda. If these polls were more widely known, the democrats would stand a lit better chance in debates and campaigns. But the more apathetic progressives are thinking perhaps either they have "no choice' or it "isn't worth the effort" or maybe they'll just sit this one out and "lie low for a while" all of these show flawed reasoning because the more the tea party wins, the More resources they have to then go on and win the Next election, and so it becomes that much Harder to ever dethrone them. We'll never have a better shot of throwing them out of office than we do right now in this year of 2014.
