Political Reality is on an Endless Loop Today

Bernie Sanders officially kicked off his campaign for president last Saturday morning at Brooklyn college.  They had it on C-Span yesterday and the miking was different.   The original on Saturday was a big garbled due to over-modulation.  I caught Bernie Sanders’ campaign rally in Brooklyn where Bernie grew up.  I listened to the introductory guy who said just how active Sanders was in protesting for student and black rights.   He was man-handled by the Chicago police when they tried to put Black stuents in rat infested trailers for over-crowded classrooms while white classrooms went empty.  Sanders covered all of the main issue but some things were a little unrealistic.  He wants of course paid maternity leave and comprehensive health care.  He wants justice of all forms including racial justice and “environmental” justice.  He wants free college education for everyone in America and his most sweeping statement was to  guarantee a job for every American at fifteen dollars an hour.  He was more hard left than even I thought.  He was strong on gun regulation.  I think it’s a good thing that he lays it all out to get it before the American public.  We can debate it and the others can offer criticism of certain planks.  The speech lasted a half hour and it could have gone longer.  I went out for a smoke and when I returned Bill had it on

It doesn't look like President Trump will ever be either impeached or indicted now.  He can't be impeached because that is considered "too political".   The democrats are worried about what Republicans think more than their own wishes.  And the President can't be indicted because you can't indict a sitting president so he has to be impeached first and removed from office by the US Senate so he can then be elligable for indictment and prison time.   I caught Trump's C-Pack speech excerpts last Saturday.  The speech lasted two hours and Sanders' speech lasted only forty minutes according to C-Span.  The President just rambled on and on.

Sixty Minutes had these teenagers who filed a law suit against the federal covernment and the courts have accepted the case.  It’s on climate change and he government has known of the dangers of hydro-carbons since 1965.  I wish them all the luck in the world.  Then there was a thing on trains and safety but a lot of the time I was getting my medication.  Then it was on getting girls into computer sciences.  They are there at grammar school level but drop out in middle school.  I guess the dating scene is more important and they want to appear feminine or something.  Anyhow when you get to eighteen and college level, the girls are almost gone.

President Trump Walks Away from Negotiations

We learn from Stephanie that Trump walked out of the peace talks in Hanoi.  I guess this shouldn’t be news but Stephanie thought it was hillarius.   Trump would thus be the second president to lose in Viet Nam.   I can’t blame Trump.  If someone avoids doing something really stupid it isn’t a bad thing; it’s a good thing.   The deal had been that Kim Jung Un would give up one uranium enrichment plant if we would drop all of our economic sanctions against North Korea.  This would not do, even in Trump’s limited perception.  Even he saw that the whole trip was a gigantic mistake thrown together at the last minute to take the spotlight off of Cohen.   I think it was midnight when the hearings began if Viet Nam is seventeen hours ahead of us, which I think they are.  Thus it would have been a late dinner and Trump perhaps most of the night watching the hearings.  Trump tweeted and called Cohen a liar and said that “Even Cohen said that there wasn’t collusion”.

I went to the room to catch the Michael Cohen testimony right about seven thirty and I caught most of the opening statement.  He called Trump a liar, a fraud and a cheat.  I was surprised he didn’t go into more close detail on a time progressed basis, but instead he skipped around quite a bit.  The Republican questioning wasn’t productive at all.  They would have gotten an F in terms of defense council for their client.  All they could do is to remind everybody that Cohen is a liar and he’s lied in a lot of areas where he was self-serving that didn’t involve the President at all.  The democratic questioner weren’t much better.  Again they didn’t ask substantive questions about the testimony but only went over the same ground that Kohen has already covered.  Cohen in one speech reminded people that for ten years he served Donald Trump and instinctively knew what to do to please him because Trump spoke in code.  He never issued an overt directive.  Of course we all know that Cohen was unable to say that he personally knew of “collusion” between the Trump campaign and the Russians.  He did mention all the areas where democrats were suspicious and confirmed them.  He talked about the Trump tower in 2016.  He talked about Julian Assange tipping them off that there would be an E mail dump of Hillary’s E mails in three days.  This was July 18th or 19th and the E mail dump came out on July 11nd.  He also specifically mentioned paying the president reimbursement checks for paying off Stormy Daniels buying her silence.  There was talk of threatening colleges Trump; had attended if he revealed his grades or SAT scores.   They seemed to go right through to eleven or so without a break but then took a really long and late break for lunch.     I had on Gary and Shannon because KNXT was back to showing their soap operas.  I watched Days of our Lives until the housekeeper came in to change the sheets and shewed me and Bill out of the room.  I hung out aroud the building.  We’re getting to that light car now.  We never got any rain yesterday.  Finally I reentered the room and had that sports bedspread and also a tan blanket on top of the bed.  I was finally able to continue with the afternoon session on KTLA.  There was only about another half hour to go.  Cohen gave his summation speech where once again he reminded us that democracy was at stake and not for others to go down the same deadly road he himself went down with President Trump in terms of lying to defend him.  Then a republican spoke.  Finally Rep Cummings gave his closing speech.  At a while he appeared at a loss for words but finally found his stride and stated the importance of what they were trying to accomplish.  There was a rumor that Cohen was weeping during his speech.  By this time it was a little after two and they were done for the day.  I turned the station to Dateline

Let's talk about life after death.   Then there was our realm of pure intelligence.  People always want to get to heaven as though life on earth couldn't possibly provide the joys of life they so crave.  Actually to be a bit synical, this could be described as a realm of pure thought but also continuous mental or psychic warfare like some elaborate chess match.  St Paul referred to a realm of "powers of the air" where "heaven" is litterally the abode of Demons.  You might almost say that St Paul has a phobia of the supernatural.  Once he said that "Though we or an angel out of heaven preach another gospel besides the one you've already heard (from us) then "Let him be accursed".   This "gospel" thus must be esteemed at an awfully high value.  Other scripture says that Satan walks before the throne of God and accuses "the bretherin" day and night.  God must find this awfully annoying.  We have had a question in our mind whether there is "time" as we know it in this form of "hyperspace" for lack of a better word.  It's not "hyper" in terms of being faster than the speed of light but rather "hyper" in terms of being beyond or not related to the dreaded graviton, which so defines time and space and mass as we know it.  It has been argued that we can be alive and dead at the same time and at some point we ourselves will remember BEING in heaven WHILE we are yet in the flesh on earth here.  This is a strange concept but it's alluded to in scripture.

Shawn Hannity went to Viet Nam with the president we are told.  The lives thus of Shawn Hannity and President Trump are really intertwined.  It goes without saying that you can't believe a word Shawn Hannity says on his radio program and I've scarcely tuned in the show at all over the past year or so.  You could pretty much say I never watch it anymore.  The charge has been lodged that Cohen is lying about the president to get a reduced prison term.  The show is actually on the other foot.  Cohen is TELLING THE TRUTH because he fears reprisal from the government and if he isn't arrow straight in his testimony, more time will be added to his prison sentence just as it was with Manifort.  I think we can all agree that we don't need Muller's final report to hand down indictments.  But we can't hand down indictments, most argue, untill the president is impeached and removed from office.  People forget this.
