It's getting harder and harder to figure out where Conservatives or Neo Cons or the tea party or whoever - stand on issues these days. For instance we hear cries that the Obama administration is anti Israel, and yet the President is meeting with Israeli prime minister Netenyahoo today and assuring him again and again that we stand with Israel. And the Prime Minister agreed that for not diplomacy and sanction pressures on Iran are enough for the time being. As to Afghanistan, we hear that official government Afghan soldiers killed six of our guys. It wasn't the Talliban that did it but "our own government". When it comes to Vladimir Putin, his rrelection after twelve years in office already, is highly suspect. People were protesting in the streets till forcable Police action dispursed the crowds there. Nobody seems concerned any more about the loss of civil rights in Russia because Russia is completely off the RADAR screen of people like Pat Buchannon, who regards Russia merely as "a major world power whom we dare not offend because we need them". In terms of the whole Syria masacre that's going on there in their civil war, Pat merely says "The thing is, it isn't our problem". Pat doesn't believe we should be concerned about the attrocities that are going on at Syria at all of the degeneration of any moral guidelines of President Assad. The feeling seems to be "with all of this Arab spring stuff, we don't know the politics of the people who want to replace the current leaders, so as such it's better to deal with the Devil we know rather than the Devil we don't". It's all too confusing.
In terms of the Rush Limbaugh show I listened to a caller. She was upset that people were mad at Rush Limbaugh at all. She regards him apparently as some kind of a cultural martyr for fighting the "American culture wars" that the Right never tires of talking about. Rush points out that Andrew Britebart was a guy who grew up under the worst political conditions of West Hollywood, speaking of it as though it were East Germany or something. "But he managed to get out of it". But a symptum of these "culture wars" were charges that liberals called Sarah Palin a slut. I never remember any one on our side using that term. Much more likely we used terms such as "irresponsible" and "morally inconsistent". If Rush doesn't know the difference he's pathetic. Many were concerned about the safety of Sarah's unborn child because she was flying around so active and flew thousands of miles in a plane while pregnent so that the child could be born in Alaska. But people on the right also never tire of doing the whole "poor me" bit when it comes to "You know, I'm a victum of Obama because I'm just trying to make ends meet economically, and I have to see the expressions of my kid's faces drop when I tell then we can't go to Mac Donald's. And then Rush goes on a tyrade against TV sitcoms and Rap Music Artists and kind of says "You know it's all been getting worst for 25 years and you think it's going to bottom out but it never does". You know? Even if everything Rush says is true (always a dubious assumption) how does all that justify the sort of conduct Rush has demonstrated lately? Tell me that.
There is more commentary after the album listings, plural. It strikes me that the biggest lie I was ever told by the Church growing up was that "One should never put Self as the center of our world but always put Jesus at the center, and that agape love always meant putting the other person's interest above that of your own. One thing wrong with this is that when one says "You should put Jesus at the center of your life". So if you put Jesus at the center of your life, in a sense you are doing JUST what HE did. He made Himself the Central Issue at all times that eclipsed ANY other issue he was talking about, even national survival. As Maurie Head put it over four decades ago "You've become to matter more than the things you say (issues you talk about). So the whole "message therapy session" wasn't an endulgence in the Flesh but rather the "Worship of God by a religious pilgrem". Of course the other part of the lie of "dying to self" and all of that presupposes two things. That your OWN life is Worthless and therefore your only hope is to live vicarious living another's life. The other part of this lie if that those TELLING you to do it- - are themselves of course Holy Examples of their own words, which they indubitably are not. The other part of this lie (how many parts are there?) is the presupposition that Jesus is some known comodity, or denominator by which you can apportion your life. But mathematically you can't divide by zero. I have never met Jesus and I don't think you have either. Isn't the corner stone of ANY religion to be honest- at least with Yourself. (Selah) Flash: Mitt Romney just had a late surge in Ohio over Santorum. Now Rick Santorum will have the opportunity to demonstrate some of that famed "Catholic humility", huh?

This is Monday March 5, 2012 and dogged if the weather didn’t cool off dramatically just as the weather predictors said. I am out of cigarettes till tomorrow. President Obama has scheduled his first Press Conference of the year tomorrow and it will be his first one since November. Of course that other Press Secretary used to give all those WH briefings I watched on the internet. That guy was the best cure for Insomnia in the world. Well, the President will have a lot to crow about since things have taken a dramatic turn for the better.

First of all there is this oh so troubling “Red Shirt” movement where you hold back kindergartners till they are aged six to enroll them, the most school districts seem to be letting them get away with it. What is particularly strange is that most of these mothers (and it’s usually mothers) were the same ones who played Mozart for their infants to culturally enrich them, and these children already know how to read at age six but are still enrolled as kindergartners so that they are bigger and more dominant and socially popular and the theory goes, “These kids are more likely than not elected as Student Body Presidents” and the like. I think this whole theory is a bunch of horse puckey myself. They point to Ice Hockey players in Canada as though they were race horses, needing to be born in January. In my day the cut off was unofficially December first and not September first anyhow, and this date was flexible, and often students born after December would be in the higher grade. Why make your kid one year dumber than other kids his age? It used to be you’d be honored if your kid got to skip a grade. The Chicago school district originally did not want to go along with this whole “Red Shirt” or what I call “Red West” plan. I suspect peoples like Red West and other football stars of the South were held back so they would be bigger and stronger and get to play another year. Some surveys cite this behavior is highly counter-productive in that it creates behavior problems in the kids as they get bored and restless with no mental stimulation.

We have the Catholic priest child molestation problem as a situation that is NOT dead and buried as most people thought. In Ireland the hostility to the Vatican has gotten so strong that church people have taken to publicly attacking the Church in parliament, which was previously not done. Church leaders in Ireland have openly opposed Vatican cover ups and instituted their own rules for Priests and children saying that at no time should a Priest be left alone with a small child with some “chaperone’ or something. Some priests are sick about the cover up. Church attendance in Ireland has dropped to a mere fraction of what it used to be, and Priests ordination in Ireland has been decimated. They stress that there are still ongoing cases out there happening now that are still undiscovered. They say there are maybe hundreds of culpable priests who each have molested fifteen to twenty or even more children in the course of their carrier. You know- - I don’t think all of this new negative press will serve the campaigns of Santorum or Gingrich well. And these lines they use about “It’s just the abandonment of traditional Values in society that is the problem and not the Church” is the biggest Royal cop out of all time.
Now you have this “Pay for Pain” scandal in the N F L. Apparently there is this one coach and I forget his name, that instituted this policy when he worked for the NO Saints, the Buffalo Bills, and also the Washington Redskins. Certain star players have been target to be “taken out” and deliberately put out of commission by breaking his neck or whatever, that would affect the course of good teams with especially talented players. They say it’s ironic that this scandal should be revealed now in light of the N F L’s new concern about brain concussions, and their new found sensitivity to this issue. Obviously is this “hired hit” policy is not corrected and very soon, Professional Football will degenerate into some corrupt system of having no respect at all for good sportsmanship and gamesmanship, and the whole goal will be “winning at any costs”, much as these tea party republicans believe in fighting dirty.
A total of seven sponsors have now pulled their adds from the Rush Limbaugh Show. Stephanie Miller for one is glad because many of the people who sponsored Rush’s show, also sponsored her show. Pro Flowers is the now seventh sponsor to pull their support. Other advertisers who have dropped their adds from the Rush Limbaugh show include that “Sleep Numbers” mattress thing. They sponsored the Al Franken show and Al would say “My number is 100. I like it firm”. My mattress is too hard. I noticed it was like a board when I got it, and it hasn’t softened up with time. This was a few months ago. Other sponsors to pull out of Rush’s show are Carbonite, the cloud backup system, and Quicken Loans. Of course this whole controversy got started when that lady spokeswoman was denied along with all other women, from testifying at Daryl Eisa, s committee hearing. Of course Rush called her a “slut”. Rush does know, doesn’t he, that its prostitutes who charge for sex. Sluts give it away for free. His whole metaphore of prostitutes, pimps, and Johns seemed a little unfocused and convoluted. And then he adds this bit about “If you’re going to have a lot of sex, you’ll take more birth control pills”. He DOES know that you don’t take more birth control pills when you’re gona have a lot of sex that evening –doesn’t he? No grown man could be that stupid. He obviously has birth control mixed up with another drug, and that would be Viagara. Of course that lady who testified was apparently a lesbian to begin with and was taking the medication for an ovary problem like endometriosis, which is an inflammation of the felopian tubes that I guess can get painful. And no tax payer dollars are at stake at all. Some of these “apologies” are not apologies but stated in terms of “What I said was correct, but I perhaps didn’t state it as tactfully as I could have. I should have used different “word choice” when I called you a slut”.
In terms of the whole amniotic fluid testing- - of course there is an increasing number of diseases where even if they can’t cure them in utero, the doctors can be prepared for whatever disease the baby is destined to have, and can prepare to take the necessary steps. With many childhood ailments, the quicker that prompt action is taken, the more likely some sort of cure. This even goes for autism, which if caught soon enough, the worst effects of it can be warted off. Of course now they are on the verge of attacking cancer in new and exciting ways from several different direction. I still hold out hope for that guy on Sixty Minutes, or rather who WASN’T on - - and this involved tailoring the chemo therapy drug to the genetics of the specific patient so that the drug will be the most effective, and keeping the side effects to a minimum We seem to be rewriting the whole book on aging. Church Smith used to teach that these cosmic particle “Neutrinos” were the things that caused aging. But today people just don’t “age” the way they used to. Sixty seems to be the new forty, and eighty seems to be the new sixty.
