he assaults of the Corporate Right against the every day American are growing.  Now they are injecting "pink slime" into our ground beef, no doubt to make it seem fresh.  It's being done right now, perhaps in the meat you ate tonight.  Pink slime has the sort of "animal biproducts' they used to put only in pet food.  It's treated with amonia of all things to disinfect it. (?)  Today we have genetically engeneered produce, which poses its own set of unique problems as my readers know.  Worse still is this nuked or irradiated fruit and vegetables that kills all the natural enzines in fruits and vegetables.  You know about high fructose corn syrup, which is a corporately peddled product that has taken over such that real sugar is now called "all natural sugar".  The body doesn't metablize it properly.  Global warming is more apparent every day.  I told you people researching local temperatures on my own how all the record High temperatures are recent, but all the lows were back over seventy years ago or something.  It was seventy degrees in Denver the other day.  Percipitation throughout the country is only one third of normal and this will be particularly hard on the west due to no snow pack run off producing droughts and more forrest fires.  You remember how they had trouble coming up with snow for the Vancouver winter Olympics a few years back.  You know how bad the premature tornado season has already been as far as the death toll.  Flowers in cold climates are blooming a month early.  They say it's the warmest winter in the eastern half of the country in fifty years.  Mosquito eggs aren't killed by the frost so they will be more prolific.  Rush Limbaugh claims it's warmer on Mars now, too, so is it "Martian warming"?  We've been told solar eruptions have been worse lately, which is God's cosmic reminder that HE can get into the act if we insist on playing that game.  There are so many near miss asteroid story it's getting like the Boy who cried "Wolf".  Of course natural gas leaks in the ground water table are getting worse all the time.  The sea levels are rising all around the world as coastal land is sinking and receding, particularly in Louisiana.  They talk about "clean coal" but the term is nonsensical for those who know.  They haven't found a way to make coal "clean".  Coal is carsogenic.  One right winger I know is concerned about charring on barbecued meat, yet she doesn't seem to mind the idea of mining dirty coal, or worse yet shale, which is costly to refine and turns areas into a moon scape like Canada. And of course now we're down to just over two percent of the worlds reserve, not four.  Randy Rhodes and the bunch way that Whatever is produced in the United States "goes on the world market automatically" and there is now no such thing as a local Texas oil company selling regionally.  If they say so.  So whatever we produce will be sold to China because they will pay more for it, and that will also keep our supply down so nobody is tempted to discount prices.  Capish?  All this took time to sink in for me but it finally has.

This is after dinner on March 7, 2012.  On this date in history was the first of the three Marches on Selma.  I know there was a legendary march from Selma to Montgomery for the establish of voting rights for Blacks.  The funny thing my memory of that whole “news cycle” is virtually non existant.  I didn’t know how many marches there were.  I don’t remember the shooting of Malcolm X on February 25th.  Surely this must have been on the minds of the marchers led by Dr. Martin Luther King.  Of course people claim to have marched in these epic demonstrations that were obviously too young to have done so.  I make no pretence of participating in any civil rights protests.  This was California and we just didn’t have those kind of racial tension problems, so I thought then.  Of course according to Hartman this was known as Bloody Sunday because a lot of protestors were beaten up and such.  I remember hearing that there was some Bridge that they intended to cross and for one of the few times in his life Dr. King backed down and didn’t do it.   Of course a lot of news is just registered in the brain as “background noise” after a while.  You take it for granted that civil rights is an ongoing struggle that will continue year after year, one step at a time.  But I suppose there were those who thought the old adage, “Give a Nigger an inch and he’ll take a mile”.  March 7th 1965 is one date I do have one specific recollection of and that was spending that overcast Sunday afternoon recording music off the radio such as “Twine Time” and “Lemon Tree” by Trini Lopez.  I don’t even remember March of 1965 being a key date in the Viet Nam war.  That was apparently when we landed Marines at De Nang.  I remember the Viet Nam War was already a going campaign issue as far back as the spring of 1964 when the Rockefeller campaign was quoting Barry Goldwater as saying “I would drop a low yield Atomic bomb on Chinese supply lines”.  But the whole idea was that the landing in De Nang was some kind of mile store did not register.

.  Today’s Apple announcement didn’t have the bravado of a Steve Jobs announcement.  It’s the next phase.  The picture has four times the pixel resolution.  You knew that.  It was “44% saturation.  It has 4 B Wireless Internet capability.  45 X Quad Core graphics or something.  It will sell for the same price as the I Pad on the market right now.  $499.00 or something.  It had a five megapixel camera, which is good.  It also features speech recognition to type down what you dictate.  This is what Word 2003 had but Word 2007 doesn't.  They were so chincy with their internet after showing a video commercial, we were just treated to photos – No Video.

The head of the California Game Commition or whatever was seen in a photograph posing with a mountain lion kill in Idaho where such killing is legal.  Many took exception to this bad example of civic-ness.  But it was pointed out that many people in California government routine do off site betting in Nevada or Atlantic City on sports events and nobody complains.  Meanwhile Los Angeles is shortening their animal shelter holding period to 72 hours before the animal is put down.  Many believe this is too short a period for owners to rescue them.
