Back to the Future - Twords 2061

It would be easy to talk about the "Future Reactionary Shock" people from times gone by would feel were they transported to our time in ways the Tea Party should well take note of.  People twenty years ago in their worst nightmare would never have envisioned the sort of political realities that are standard and ongoing in today's world.  People fifty years ago from 1962 would be almost but not quite as myffed by the reactionary militaristic fever of today's times.  Even people of one hundred years ago from 1912 would find Newt Gingrich's campaign ideas - if not as reactionary ad we liberals see them today - but even they would agree that Newt would be representing the traditionalist, status quo contingency of society, wanting to take us back to the era of President Mc Kinley, which I imagine many still fancies as the best of times back in the Guilded Age.  However in the Future Oddesy Mark and I did around May first of 1982 we we read the tea leaves, we saw governments as continuing to toggle back and forth between the democratic and republican parties, as a flat refutation of many psychic claims of the time that "The political parties as we know them will disappear from the scene very soon".  Mark and I both saw this as 'Not the case".  We, and particularly Mark, saw governments as increasingly "Statist' and repressive denying basic human rights.  Mark in particular saw some sort of medical crisis developing in the 1990's where "needed medical care would be deliberately denied patients by the government" and vital drugs for instance, for cancer patients would be denied patients without seemingly any reason.  We both envisioned a major war that would culminate in an exchange of nuclear weapons between Red China and some "Asian axis of the yellow races - - covering the interior of Asia but NOT countries of Southeast Asia.  We saw areas like Mongolia and Sin Juan provences involved and most likely Pakistan.  This whole Pakistan - China axis our country had been encouraging since the days of Nixon would come back to bite us in the ass.  Of course Star Trek foresaw some "ultimate test where nuclear weapons were exchanged".  Our oddesy is rather silent concern the teens and into the 2020's.  Perhaps this would be a period of utter world chaos and climate convulsion and nuclear night and all of that.  But then around 2030 we forsaw "global warming" and heavy polution and the new "normal for society" would be a highly restrictive overseeing government with travel restrictions and denial of rights for virtually anybody except the government elite who had passes.  We then foresaw another War but this one would not be as destructive and would be more of an urban guerilla "war of the people" kind of along the lines of "conquest the Planet of the Apes" where the "Apes" alias the common people would emerge victorious and take over and make major, needed reforms.  Because of the improved government environment - - possibly - - a new Spiritual Movement would commence about 2040.  Mark in particular was adement that "It would not be all that different from Today but people of the future would regard this time of 1982 as "The good old days", which I had trouble believing.  It would be kind of like the whole Christian Movement was from about 1970 through about 1978 when the Moral Majority took over gradually.  But that was kind of an east coast Lynchberg Virginia kind of thing - - without the laid back west coast quality of Christianity out here as we knew it then.  It would be "Not so Biblicly based but have more of an inner Siritual, mystical quality to it that the clergy would us to develop individually.  This improved spiritual state would then pass on to better economic times, which in turn would enable fantasticly rappid scientific discoveries of the 2050's which would be good economic times also.  Then in 2061 we would make "First Contact" with other Alien cultures outside our Planet and "The secret of gravity would be discovered" and man would no longer be earth bound.  Much of this thinking stems from the scenario on Rush's "2112" album.  However the 2061 dates back to Sir Isac Newton.  However in a "Stephano Di Mira moment" of mine, I discovered that Newton himself picked this (bogus?) date based not on any scientific formulas about gravity, but rather from some Bible nuts he had been hanging around with.  Man would now be sending Star Ships to traverse the nearby part of the Milky Way galaxy.  "And now watch this drive - - "

We are on page four, as I move the headphones out of the way.  In soap land news Lucas and Samantha just had sex with the front door of their apartment wide open.  Seems a little spontaneous to me.  At this point I have to question how serious Lucas was about his “fiancĂ©” Autumn back in China that he’s able to put behind him so quickly – like a drowning man clinging to a razor blade.  Lucas is “back for more” from Sammy.  Kate walked in and apparently tried to pawn off the lie to rattle Sammy that she still owned the name Princess Wilimina Cosmettics and corporate logo, when she knew she didn’t.  Stephano put in the contract not only all title and trademark rights that were known, but those yet to be discovered.  It’s kind of like Gerald Ford pardoning Nixon for “All offences he committed or may have committed”.  It’s my policy not to issue pardons to people who’s full offences are yet to be known, perhaps because they are being deliberately conceiled.  Marlena, Carrie, Raphael, Bo and Hope are trapped inside the safe house with a bomb set to explode is anyone opens any windows or doors, and all the cell phone coverage has been jammed and Roman is on his way there to enter a code which if successful will kill them all.  So why is Stephano more vindictive these days?  Elvis just discovered papers saying he is not Stephano’s son and Stephano walks in and they talk about it.  This whole idea of his being sick when he was a baby and his mother apparently took him away from the custody of Stephano to see doctors known only to Alice Horton to cure the boy of his serious illness, and the lack of paternity was discovered during that time, possibly because of a failed blood match.  It’s kind of beyond me how Stephano could not know or why Tony gets a paternity “pass” but Elvis doesn’t.  This whole Italian “blood line” tradition must really be strong.  So now we know the other half of the Alice Horton ticking time bomb in a vault.

The question is - - is being a Gay Republican a permanent condition or a something you can be conditioned out of with the proper therapy and counseling.  Randy says the state is not incurable and there is hope.  Being Republican is not a state you are born into.  It’s a condition of choice.  Another caller stated that some Gays like the cloak of being a Republican because he helps then “stay in the closet” without being suspected.  It’s an interesting concept.  I wonder if it will fly in the fall campaign.  I tuned KPOJ Portland back in.  Thom Hartman was walking down memory lane again talking about on April 14th of 1789 George Washington was riding in a coach along a trail and happened on a man and the President Elect inquired of him where he might by any fine suit that was Made in America, because then the British controlled almost all of the textile industries of fine clothes.  The man showed him where.  Ronald Reagan’s granting of illegal aliens amnesty in 1986 was not the problem.  The problem according to Hartman was that at the same time Ronald Reagan released employers from the requirements that they ask for documentation that the people they were hiring were legally in America.  This opened up the floodgates of illegal alien labor, from which we still have not recovered and Republicans have a million reasons for not wanting employers to check citizenship - - the most obvious one being cheap labor to drive the wage base down, which is what these people are all about.  Hartman said that Oral Tradition was often better than written tradition because books can be stuck on a shelf and forgotten about but Oral tradition relies on people’s conscious collective memories.  There are reports about the receding ice sheet in New Hampshire from ten thousand years ago that is more accurate than all but the best geological projections.  White settlers were then afraid - - of the Iraquois nation because these five tribes formed a large land mass with a government so advanced white people patterned our constitution after the Iraquois.  People did not initially know how big the Iraquois nation was and they had trading all the way to the Pacific.  Of course the white man’s disease decimated Native tribes everywhere.  According to that program last night pandemics are just “nature’s way of keeping the world’s population under control”.

After three I tuned to KGON 92.3 and listened to two songs.  That blind Chinese dissident offered US protection now wants to get out of China because he no longer feels safe there dispite any agreements.  I heard it was the very first dissident to be protected by the United States since 1989, which flabberghasted me.  It is beyond me why President after President gives Red China a “pass” on human rights violations.  Nora is here now.  Apparently there has been some sort of Civil unrest in Portland, if I didn’t say that already.  Joe Drisco says “There were riots all over the country yesterday” that I sure never heard on the news.  I’m still not sure why President Obama was in Afghanistan except to prove he could really do it.  Someone said he signed some ten year pact with Afghanistan committing our troops to that nation for the next ten years.  That’s hardly something to be proud of.  This whole tradition Republicans have of picking the loser of the previous four year’s race, is a tradition that goes back to at least 1976.  Reagan lost in 1976 and was picked in 1980.  Bush lost in 1980 and was picked in 1988.  Bob Dole ran in 1988 or sometime and lost and was picked in 1996.  And John Mc Cain ran and lost in 2000 and was picked in 2008 and the loser Mitt Romney ran in 2008 and seems destined to be picked this year.  So will we be picking Rick Santorum in the next election of 2016?  Maybe this tradition is as Maurice Evan once put it “Better observed in the breaking of it than in the keeping - - you know - - like a bad egg”.  What’s so great about “planning for the previous war”?

Over the noon hour Newt Gingrich made a rather long winded, apparently, speech saying that he was “Suspending’ his campaign for President.  There’s that word again.  It means he’ll continue to collect money and keep what he has already as a nest egg for his function as “King Maker” down the line at the Republican Convention or something.  I turned to KABC for Sean Hannidy who had it without all the commentary.  But Sean said “The local station can decide to continue coverage or go into their usual break.  Our “local” station chose the usual break.  But Randy still had the speech after the commercial there.  Newt was still at it thanking a seemingly endless list of people and discussing all the political pipe dreams and so called triumphs.
